The SMART lab focuses on developing the theory and practice of the use of robotics and AI in defense and security (e.g., multi-robot patrol problem) and other areas of adversarial robotics. One important aspect of the work lies in handling heterogeneous systems of robots, in which robots have inherently different capabilities – for example unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). These capabilities should be used in a way that optimizes the team behavior. Performance analysis of the behaviors is done using theoretical tools, and evaluation is performed on real robotic systems.
