Testing Thermal Feature of Cancer Tissue Using IR Camera and Nano-Particles (In collaboration with Dr. Rachela Popovtzer)

This research aimed to mark with good precision a border contour of superficial cancer tissue area. Gold nano-particles are injected to the suspicious are. The system includes a Laser device for heating the infected area and an IR camera for thermal imaging. We developed a dedicated image processing model and a mathematical model that due to temperature gradients and changes enables to take a robust decision in real time about the type of the tissue. The algorithm draws a complete contour based on the model. We tested the system on mice and got good results.
